விண்டோஸ் XP, 2000 ல் யூனிகோட் தமிழ்

1.யுனிகோடு தமிழை வாசிக்க தாங்கள் எதுவும் செய்யத் தேவையில்லை.
2.யுனிகோடு தமிழ் எழுதுவதற்கு மட்டும் எகலப்பை 2.0
நிறுவிக்கொள்ளுங்கள்
3. ஜிமெயில் கணக்கு உபயோகித்தால் சிறப்பு, இல்லாவிட்டாலும் கலப்பை மற்ற மின்னஞ்சல் சேவைகளிலும் செயல்படும்.
4.உங்கள் இணைய உலாவி இண்டெர்நெட் எக்ஸ்ப்ளோரரைத் திறந்து வியூ - என்கோடிங் - யுனிகோடு (யுடிஎஃப்-8) என்ற மாற்றத்தைச் செய்யுங்கள்.
5.உங்கள் விண்டோசின் வலப்புறம்
ஆங்கிலத்தில் 'கே' என்று உள்ள பொத்தானைச் சொடுக்கி, 'யுனிகோடுதமிழ்' என்று மாற்றுங்கள். அது இப்போது தமிழில் 'அ' என்று சிவப்பு எழுத்தில் காட்டும்.

எழுத்து கருவிகள் - Wordpad, MS Word, Notepad, Outlook, Internet Explorer ஆகிவற்றில் இருந்துகொண்டு

Alt+1 சொடுக்கினால் கலப்பை ஆங்கிலத்துக்கு மாறும்.
Alt+2 சொடுக்கினால், கலப்பை யூனிகோடுக்கு மாறும்.
Alt+3 சொடுக்கினால் கலப்பை டிஸ்கி அஞ்சல் எழுத்துருவுக்கு மாறும்.
6. யூனிகோட் தமிழில் எழுத, வர்ட்பாட் (WORDPAD) பெரிதும் பரிந்துரைக்கப்படுகிறது.

தாங்கள் எழுதியதை சேமிக்கும் பொழுது மறவாமல்,
Save As Type என்ற பகுதியில் யூனிகோட் என்று தேர்வு செய்துகொள்ளுங்கள்.

இனி உங்களால் எளிமையாக யூனிகோட் தமிழ் தட்டச்ச முடியும். மின்னஞ்சல், வர்ட்பாட், நோட்பாட், அவுட்லுக், இன்டர்நெட் எக்ஸ்ப்ளோரர்
என்று எல்லா எழுதும் கருவிகளிலும் யூனிகோட் தட்டச்ச இயலும்.

விண்டோஸ் 98 ம் யுனிகோட் தமிழும்

அவுட்லுக் எக்ஸ்பிரஸ் 6.0 ம் எக்ஸ்புளோரர் 6.0 ம் இருந்தால், விண்டோஸ் 98டினைப் பயன்படுத்துவோர், யுனிகோடு தமிழில் இருக்கும் கூகுள்
குழுமப் பக்கங்களையும், ஜிமெல் அஞ்சல்களையும், அவுட்லுக் அஞ்சல்களையும் வாசிக்கலாம், ஆனால் தட்டச்ச இயலாது.

சுரதாவின் 'புதுவை தமிழ் தட்டெழுதியைப்' பாவித்து யுனிகோடு தமிழைத் தட்டெழுதி பின்னர் வெட்டி ஒட்டும் முறையைத்தான் இங்கு பயன்படுத்த முடியும்.

Unicode Tamil for - Windows XP and Windows 2000 users :

1. You should be able to read Unicode Tamil without any additional effort.
2. Please Install ekalappai 2.0 to write in Unicode Tamil
3. Gmail accounts work well with Unicode. However other email services do support it.
4. Open your Internet Explorer. From the menu: Select - View - Encoding - Unicode (UTF-8)
5. select UNICODETAMIL in 'K' icon on the far right side of your Windows taskbar.
The 'K' icon will turn into tamil அ in Red

Now, you have sucessfully setup eKalappai.

You can use any Word processing tool, such as Wordpad, MS Word, Notepad, Outlook, Internet Explorer to read, write
Unicode Tamil.

Alt+1 Will Enable English typing.
Alt+2 Will Enable Unicode Tamil typing.
Alt+3 Will Enable TSCII ANJAL Typing.
6. Wordpad is highly recommended for Unicode Tamil typing. Please remember Save as Type - Unicode Text Document.
The Fonts will get distorted if you forget to do this.

Windows 98 and Unicode Tamil

If you have Windows 98, Outlook Express 6.0 and Internet Explorer 6.0 in your PC, You can read Unicode Tamil
mails in Google Groups, Gmail, and Outlook Express.
However you will not be able to type in Unicode Tamil.
Suratha's Puthuvai Tamil Writer can be used to type tamil, and then cut and paste into a desired word processor or mail draft.

Detailed Help:

Windows XP or Windows 2000 and Internet Explorer 6.0, Please follow these instructions -

To view thamiz Unicode
From Internet Explorer, go to View Encoding and change it to Unicode (UTF-8)
If it is still illegible -

From Tools menu, click Internet Options
When the options box comes up, click on Fonts... button
In the Language script drop-down box, click on Tamil
You will see 2 lists , i.e. left & right side, called Web page font, and Plain text font.

If you have already installed e-kalappai 2.0 , you may see TheneeUniTx in both lists
Please select/check those.

If you don't see TheneeUniTx, you can select either TheneeUni or Latha instead.
On the left hand side, select Latha. You usually won't have Latha on the right side.
In that case you have to go with TheneeUniTx or TheneeUni on the right hand side.
Click OK then again click OK to exit the options box, then return to your browser

The page must be legible now.

If you don't see TheneeUni or TheneeUniTx in the above lists,
then you may be able to see it after you install e-kalappai 2.0.


Please Follow the following steps and install e-kalappai, and then return to the previous selections to see if you can check TheneeUniTx or TheneeUni.


The following are the instructions for typing in thamiz Unicode:

If you have e-kalappai 1.0, Please uninstall (go to Start Programs and go to the Tavultesoft or e-kalappai program group and click Uninstall (it may be listed as Uninstall Keyman))

ekalappai 2.0
installation is necessary to type thamiz Unicode.

After completing the installation, you will see a small "K" icon in your system tray (when typing in thamiz Unicode, it will show a red thamiz "a" letter)
In the Programs menu it will be in a group called Tavultesoft Keyman for Thamizha! and the program you need to run to get eKalappai running is called Keyman.

Gmail supports thamiz Unicode very well , compared to Hotmail or Yahoo. You can also chat on Googletalk, and MSN Messenger in thamiz Unicode (but not in Yahoo Messenger)
